Hocks Summer Holidays :- A Family Cruise

Welcome

Hey Everyone, Welcome to the first post in the new series of blog posts called Hocks Summer Holidays. Let us Explain briefly what this series is about. The Hocks Love our Holidays, and so we thought lets look into some different types of holidays that people can go on this summer.
We decided to look at Holidays that take place in August of this year, With 2 adults and 2 children, if required the children would be aged 12 and aged 4. We have set no longer than 7 days and all must be family friendly
We really hope you enjoy this series as much as you seemed to enjoy our "Getting to Know" series and would really love to hear your thoughts on anything related to either this post or the blog in general. Please remember we are on Facebook and on Twitter as well as our Google+ page
So, Lets Get Hocks Summer Holidays Part 1 underway!
For Part 1 we are going to look at something that we as a family have never been on and that's a Family Cruise. The first thing I will say is that researching a Family cruise is not easy, there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of cruises available, some departing from uk and returning to the uk, some departing with uk but needing flights back to uk from an end destination abroad and some needing flights to get on the ship abroad but with a departure in the uk.
There is quite simply a cruise out there for everybody, but finding it could take you a lot of time, unless you use a cruise specialist where you tell them roughly what you are looking for where from and where to and they do the hard work for you!

This video shows you what is available on the majority of family friendly cruise ships. The cruise ships these days are like mini towns and include cinemas, water parks and a wide variety of eating options

You can also find online thousands of blogs and videos that give you advice and tips on what type of cruise to look for, what to take with you and how to make the most of your cruise. This next video looks at 12 important tips for first time cruisers

There is a wealth of information out there, as well of course as travel agents such as Thompson who will only be too happy to help you find the right cruise at the right time for you and your family.

An example of a cruise we have found is a 7 night P & O cruise to Norway from Southampton. This is a round trip cruise which means the ship does return to Southampton. It is on board the P & O Adonia.

It leaves Southampton on the 2nd August 2012 and returns on the 10th August.

In terms of Pricing there are 2 options, The Early Saver Fare and the Select fare, Now with the early saver fare you get no added benefits but with the select fare you get the following for just £100 more per adult.

Choice of Dining times, Shuttle Buses, Cabin Choice, Free Wi-Fi and a free upgrade on the day of arrival if one is available.

You then get to choose any 1 of the following options as well;

Free On Board Spending Money, Free Car Parking at the port where you depart from, Free Coach transfers to the port and back or if necessary free Airport Parking

There are 4 types of Accommodation available, An Inner room, An Outer Room, A Balcony Room and a Suite. However when we were looking at prices the inner rooms had sold out. The other rooms started at

Outer Rooms from £1149 Per Adult
Balcony Room from £1279 Per Adult
Suite Room from £2329 Per Adult

This cruise was found on www.cruise.co.uk

www.cruise.co.uk

These prices generally include the majority of the daytime entertainment, all dining and some on-board activities

We Hope you have enjoyed looking at the videos and pictures and maybe just maybe we have tempted you to look further into the possibility of going on a cruise, There are cheaper options and more expensive options available and we have to say it looks quite fun going on a cruise!
