Hello Everyone and welcome to this weeks The Hocks On.. post. This week, as Rosie goes back to school the week after next (full time too ahhh!), Anna has been starting to shop around for her school uniform, and quite frankly, was shocked at how blinkin' expensive it actually is to send your child to school!! What with the uniform, lunches, school trips and other various things you have to fork out for throughout the year, you end up spending hundreds of pounds. It must be so difficult for families with more than one child!
Most schools these days insist that the children buy the sweatshirts/cardigans with the school logo on, Rosie's school being one of them. Now, we believe that if the school is going to INSIST that the children wear these jumpers, then they should either provide them or at least make them the same price as the plain jumpers/cardigans you can buy in the high street stores. We believe this because the logo jumpers and cardigans in Rosie's school cost £10 each yet you can get plain jumpers and cardigans in the school colours from £3 in the likes of Asda. Considering most people buy at least 2, it is a heck of a lot of money when you could get the plain ones for under half the price. One of Rosie's friends also has 2 older brothers that attend the school, meaning that their parents have had to spend at least £60 just on jumpers before they have even started buying anything else!
So, this week, for The Hocks On.. we thought we would look into exactly how much it costs to kit your child out ready to go back to school. We have decided to compare the 3 major supermarkets to find out where you can get the most for your money. We will be "shopping" for boys and girls of the age of 6 and our list will include the shops own make of polo shirts, trousers/pinafore dress, socks/tights, shoes, rucksack and lunchbox/bottle and P.E kit consisting of shorts, t-shirt, pumps and bag. We will also include plain jumpers/cardigans from each shop just incase your child's school allows you to wear these!
