Disney On Ice!

On Friday (20th March) Allan and I took Rosie to see Disney On Ice in the Echo Arena in Liverpool! We booked it a few months ago and Rosie was so excited about it that by the time Friday morning came she was ready to burst with excitement! She didn't even want to go to school on Friday morning (which is very unlike her as she adores school!), she just wanted to get in the car and go! Obviously we took her to school and when she got there she made sure she told all her teachers and friends where she would be going later on that day!

As Rosie is only in nursery, she finishes school at 11.30am, so we decided to book the 3pm performance as the evening one meant we wouldn't be getting back to Wrexham until very late. We went to pick Rosie up from school armed with a change of clothes and a lunchbox with her lunch in and went to my Mum and Dads to get her changed and give her some food (they live right next to the school so it made sense to go there rather than drive back to our house as we live a 10 minute drive away). Of course, when we got to Gran and Granddad's house the first thing she wanted to do was share her excitement about Disney On Ice with them (unfortunately my Dad has been in bed rather poorly this week so she went to speak to him through his bedroom door so that she didn't catch anything). After getting her changed and giving her some lunch, she got some pocket money from Gran and Granddad and off we set to Liverpool!

There were roadwork's all the way to Liverpool so unfortunately it was a longer journey than usual but hearing Rosie talking non stop about where we were going made the journey thoroughly enjoyable! The doors to the arena opened at 2pm and we arrived at about 1.50pm meaning we had to queue outside the doors for 10 minutes until the doors opened. This wouldn't have been an issue at all if Rosie hadn't have been absolutely bursting for a wee! I can safely say that 10 minutes was very stressful as Rosie was getting more and more desperate and we had no change of clothes with us! Luckily she managed to hold on and as soon as the doors opened we made a mad dash to the toilets!

After our toilet trip we payed a visit to the merchandise stand with Rosie's pocket money. Now, I have to say this, the price of the merchandise was just RIDICULOUS! I mean £10 for a paper programme, £10 for a flimsy plastic Olaf cup filled with a Slush Puppie drink, £8 for popcorn and £22 (yes you did read that correctly) for a flashing wand that will run out before the end of the day is just WRONG!. Rosie had £15 to spend and the best she should get was a plastic Princess Anna figure, don't get me wrong, she was more than grateful and happy with it, but it definitely wasn't worth £14. Ah well, these places are always overpriced but I just think its a bit unfair, god knows how much families with more than 1 child must have spent!

After buying Rosie's Princess Anna figure we went to find our seats and were very pleasantly surprised by how good they were! We had a great view of the stage!

It was Rosie's first ever time in an arena and she found it all very exciting, she couldn't stop looking around and grinning, it was adorable!

We waited in our seats for about half an hour for the show to start but this soon flew by as seeing how excited Rosie was was great entertainment!

The lights went out and the show started. The show was hosted by Minnie and Mickey Mouse accompanied by Goofy and Donald Duck. Rosie thought it was fantastic and got very involved shouting "Hello Minnie, Hello Mickey" and "YESSSSS" When they were shouting "Are you ready" to the audience.

The first story they acted out was "The Little Mermaid". It was brilliant. So colourful and fun and the skaters were fantastic, particularly the one playing Ariel, she was so graceful. The costumes and props were very impressive too.

After The Little Mermaid, Minnie and Mickey came back on and introduced their next part of the show which was "Tangled". Again this was beautiful, particularly the lantern scene.

After Tangled they had a 15 minute interval which gave everyone a chance to go to the toilet and get a drink.

The second half of the show started with my favourite part, "Beauty and The Beast". This is my favourite Disney film as I find the story and the music absolutely gorgeous. The story was acted out beautifully and again, the skaters were fantastic.

The final part of the show was the part that Rosie had been waiting for, "Frozen". I have to admit that although this wasn't my favourite part of the show (purely because I like Beauty and The Beast so much), it was the best costume wise and production wise. The Sven the Reindeer costume was especially impressive. Rosie was mesmerised the whole way through and giggled her head off when Olaf came on!

The show was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The only problem we had was that there was a stupid woman behind us shouting along to the songs in our ears the whole way through, which took the shine off it a bit for us (at one point Rosie even put her hands over her ears). The person the woman was with told her numerous times to be quiet and stop spoiling it for other people to which she just replied "No" and carried on shouting. So to the woman sat behind us, if you are reading this, you are a very selfish person and you should be ashamed of yourself!

This was no fault of Disney On Ice though and as I say the show was brilliant and we would recommend it to anyone!

After the show we headed back to Wrexham, treating Rosie to a Happy Meal on the way home and relaxed in front of the TV until it was time to go to bed.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable day and it was lovely to do something special together.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about our trip to Disney On Ice and do let me know what you thought of it if you went too!
