The Canal Boat Trip for Tommy's 60th

The Boat Trip

Hey Everyone, Welcome to the 2nd of these posts where we tell you about the celebrations for Tommy's 60th Birthday.

Today Lynne and Eifion arranged for The Hocks plus 2 special guests, Barbara and Meryl (Anna's Grandmothers') to go on a surprise Narrowboat Excursion. Everybody in the party knew what was happening except for Tommy and Michelle who we had managed to keep oblivious.

We all met at Lynne and Eifion's house Where we waited for our minibus and taxi. This surprised Tommy and got him in a little bit of a tizz as he did not know what on earth was going on!

When the Minibus and taxi arrived (As there no minibuses available for all of us) we made the 20 minute journey to Trevor in Llangollen where our boat was waiting for us. Much to Tommy's delight the boat we were going on was called the same as him.

The excursion was conducted by a company called Jones The Boats. From the minute we arrived to the Minute we left we were made to feel like part of the family and it was a truly Memorable experience for all.

Our journey lasted for 3 hours and included a wonderful 3 course meal. The food was all excellent and not one person had any complaints about the food. The whole group gave the very friendly and Welcoming chef a massive round of applause of the end of the journey.

The Journey started in Trevor in Llangollen and headed towards Chirk and then back again. During this journey we went over the very famous +Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and much to Rosie's delight we also travelled through 2 very large tunnels. she quickly realised she could hear her own echo and spent te whole time happily shouting at the top of her lungs.

Everybody on the canal and its Towpath were extremely friendly and pleasant and all waved to Rosie as we travelled on our journey. The scenery was just beautiful! We think some of the best scenery you will ever get in the world and got the parents talking about going on a canal holiday.

Jones The Boats do a number of different trips, from short trips over the Aqueduct to 6 hour long day trips. One thing that all these trips have in common is that they are all great value from money.

You can find our more about Jones the Boats on their Website, www.canaltrip.co.uk or like them on Facebook by simply searching for Jones the Boats.

This was Genuinely one of the best days the family has had together so far and we will certainly be going back again, maybe even for the 6 hour day trip!
