Tommy's 60th - Part 1

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before I start with todays Blog Post I want to pay tribute to Anna's Grandad and Eifion's Dad who sadly passed away on Sunday after a battle with Alzheimer's. He will forever be remembered as a truly special Husband, Dad, Grandad & Great Grandad. Rest In Peace

Hey Everyone,

A couple of weeks ago we told you all about our new schedule and mentioned the fact there would be couple of special blog posts as it is Tommy's 60th Birthday on the 29th April. Well, Welcome to the first of these posts.

Now, Tommy is not a party kind of person, in fact he truly hates them. So, He decided that he would rather go for a Meal with his own family then have a separate time with Us privately then will go out with Michelle's Parents separately again. Yes, He doesn't like parties, but he does seem to think he is royalty and deserves 3 birthday celebrations!

So, On Sunday 17 of us descended upon the Miller and Carter Steak House in Aughton.

Present were Tommy, Michelle, Colin, Allan, Anna and Rosie along with Tommy's 2 sisters, Margaret and Cathy with their families.

After a few drinks in their reception area, we were shown to our 2 tables which were parallel to each other. On one table was Colin, Allan and Anna with the 3 children and the second table had everybody else on it.

To Start Myself and Anna (And Allan but he had his own starter too) Shared the Miller and Carter Sharing Platter.

The Sharing Platter consisted of 4 Smoked Barbecue Ribs, a pot of Baked Cheddar Mushrooms, 4 Dusted Calamari, A small portion of Nachos, Smoked Chipotle, 2 Honey Chicken wings, Sweet potato fries and Garlic Bread. All of this was of the highest quality and absolutely delicious and extremely good value at £12.95

We then moved onto the Main course, and again myself and Anna shared a meal. How could we go to Miller and Carter and not try their famous Chateaubriand 16oz. On the Menu it is described like this!

Cut from the beef tenderloin, this most tender of cuts is recommended medium rare and is served  with two steak sauces of your choice.

This really is the best Steak we have ever had, perfectly cooked and truly scrumptious! Not in the picture above is the generous portion of chips you get as well as a rather strange Lettuce Wedge. It is basically a quarter of a lettuce with a sauce of your choice over it, presented in a brown bowl.

Then it came to Dessert, I just had a Mixed ice cream, which consisted of Strawberry, Vanilla and Chocolate. it has strawberries mixed in with it and a chocolate sauce over it, a really nice end to a beautiful meal.

Rosie had an amazing time and loved spending some quality time with Joseph and Evie who are Allan and Colin's Cousin's Children

Stay Tuned Tomorrow for our latest in the Hocks Holidays Series, Then on Thursday we will share with you some of the presents Tommy gets in part 2 of the Special Blogs for his Birthday, Then on Friday we see the latest in the Top of The Hocks series.

Much Love
The Hocks
