The Hocks BGT Review

Hey Everyone, and Welcome to the first post in this new series where we review the weekends Britain's Got Talent Acts.

+Britains Got Talent is a talent show looking for an act fit to perform in front of the queen at the Royal Variety Show. It has 4 judges, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell and is hosted by Ant and Dec.

This weekend saw the 2nd of the Audition shows and we saw a total of 13 acts on stage.

After the introduction of Ant and Dec explaining they had searched the whole of the uk, showing them in helicopters, with animals and on a canoe we got to Act 1 which was a 9 year old Irish girl called Jessie. Her act everyone was expecting to be Irish dancing, however, she came out with a sword and did some terrifying dancing with that! Although it was ok and it was different it was also a little terrifying seeing a 9 year old girl messing with a sword. We gave her 6/10

Next on Stage were a folk singing duo, who had come to sing their original song called "You deep frost my heart at a million degrees" Well, where to start, its a shame their microphones were not frosted as then we wouldn't have heard it. How on earth David and Amanda did not press their buzzers we do not know! 2/10

The awful acts kept on coming with the next 3 being awful. It started with the Absurdist pipers who were quite rightly buzzed out by all 4 judges, then came Hayley Pyke, She claimed to be a rock singer but she just could not sing at all and again was rightly buzzed out by all 4 judges! Then it was time for an act of a Scottish dancer and someone playing an instrument. Arlene and Doug were their names and to be honest, they were shocking! However, none of the judges buzzed them, we certainly would have done!

Then 5 young lads came onto the stage, when asked what their group was called they responded with Boyband! How original everyone thought, a group of 5 lads singing calling themselves boyband. However, they were not singing, they were dancing and they were incredible! As they finished we all said they deserve a Golden Buzzer - The golden buzzer can be pressed once by each judge and once by Ant and Dec for acts they believe should miss the rest of the audition stages and go straight through to the final, and rightly so, Ant and Dec came from Backstage and pressed that Golden Buzzer - very well deserved!

Next onto the stage was Adam Lazarus, who said he wanted to create a modern version of Live Aid if he became famous, well, that isn't going to happen holding 2 puppets and miming to a song, was rightly buzzed straight out the competition by all 4 judges.

Next on stage was an act that divided the Hocks. Joseph Friedman came on to play his cowbells. Anna and all 4 of the judges liked this act and he was put through to the next round, however, I just found it boring and tedious and I wouldn't have pressed my buzzer but ide have politely said no thank you.

The next act on stage claimed to be a comedian, the only thing funny about it was when he was buzzed out by all 4 judges and seemed shocked.

Next on stage was a mother of 5, Becky O'Brien who had been told to apply for the show by one of her sons. She sang Somewhere over the rainbow and started off extremely nervous (As you probably would) but grew into it. She was very good, Anna is not a huge fan of the song and so didn't really enjoy it but said she could tell she had a good voice! She sailed through to the next round of the competition.

Next up was Jeffrey Drayton, who came onto the stage in unusual fashion, Wearing roller skates and to the song "We Will Rock You" by Queen. He announced to the judges he was a magician but he could win the competition because his act was entertaining. Well, Entertaining it certainly was. His act started by going to get his Partner, a puppet called Chantelle. and he tried to be a ventriloquist, however he wasn't very good at it, but it made it very funny! And it just gets funnier and funnier when he involves Ant and Dec, See the video below!

The penultimate act on stage was Jamie Raven, a magician who was quite simply, Amazing! How he did what he did, the judges, Anna and myself just do not know, which is the sign of a really good magician. Simon Cowells face was a picture! Can you work out how he did it?

Last up on this weeks show was 12 year old Henry Gallagher from Wigan. he strolled onto the stage with a guitar over his shoulder and was supremely confident. he said he was going to sing a song he had written himself about a girl he really liked but was too scared to tell her. it was called lightning. it was a very catchy song that really could be a number 1, he was very good on stage and had a really good voice! in all of the Hocks opinions he deserved a golden buzzer!
