Top Of The Hocks- Friday 7th August 2015!

Hello Everyone, Welcome to this weeks Top Of The Hocks! This is the first Top Of The Hocks post for a few weeks, we hope you haven't missed it too much!  As Top Of The Hocks has been going for quite a long time now, we fancy a change and we are currently wracking our brains for a replacement series for Friday's, so do watch this space! Now, lets get on with what is Top in the world of The Hocks this week!

1) Website Of The Week

This week we are going for www.shibashake.com. Shiba Shake is a Dog Tips, Care and Training website full of information and tips of how to train and care for your puppy/dog. The creator of the website had a few problems with her puppy when she first got it, so all her methods are tried and tested. The information and tips are very easy to follow and read and they WORK! As Anna, Allan and Rosie have their new puppy Milo, they are finding this website very useful at the moment!

2) TV Show Of The Week

As the new series started this week, and it is a firm favourite in both Anna and Allan's and Lynne and Eifion's houses, it has to be +The Great British Bake Off! The Great British Bake Off is a Baking Competition Show that airs on BBC One. It is just brilliant, a show full of people making scrummy looking cakes and treats, what's not to love?? It is made even better by the fantastic and funny presenters Mel and Sue and the brilliant judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood who all work so well together and provide laugh after laugh. If you haven't seen or heard of The Great British Bake off, where have you been? get on iPlayer quick quick quick! But.... be prepared for your mouth to seriously water!

3) Joke Of The Week

This week we are going for the classic "Love Shack" by the B52'S! No specific reason really, it just makes you feel so cheerful!

This week we are going for this video that Anna made of Anna and Allan's Wedding Day, it features the song Anna walked (well, ran) down the aisle to!

7) Picture Of The Week

This week we are going for this lovely picture of Allan and Rosie making pizza in Center Parcs!

8) Movie Of The Week

This week we are going to go for Disney's Oliver and Company. Oliver and company is Disney's take on Oliver Twist, but featuring animals instead! It is super cute and features some amazingly catchy songs, Rosie loves it!

9) Shop Of The Week

This week are going to go for The Pet Hut. The Pet Hut is a discount pet store that is part of Poundstretcher. They sell top quality pet products and food at super affordable prices. As you can imagine, Anna and Allan have used them ALOT the past week!

10) Family Friendly Restaurant Of The Week

This week we are going to go for Bella Italia! Bella Italia is a chain of Italian Family Restaurants that are all around the country. The prices are reasonable, particularly the set menus, and the childrens menu is fantastic!

Hocks Summer Outings - Walks

Hey Everyone and Welcome to this weeks Hocks Summer Outings, firstly we want to say that Hocks A to Z will return from Monday and this series will return to its normal Wednesday slot next week. We have had a number of setbacks including my computer deciding to upgrade to the new +Windows 10 and taking hours to do it! 

So this week we have decided that for our summer outing post we are going to get your legs going and show you some walks around the country you and your kids could do these summer holidays.

The first walk we are suggesting is in Betsy-y-Coed in North Wales. Its about a 3 mile walk and will take anywhere between 90 minutes and 150 minutes depending on your pace. It takes you to the reservoir named +Llyn Elsi you start your walk in Betsy-y-Coed behind a church called St Mary's and head up past the post office then follow the forestry road way marked Llyn Elsi. you will eventually cross a slab bridge. You will also come across the Ancaster Memorial and then will circumnavigate the lake then will retrace your steps back to Betsy-y-Coed.

Now that's an official walk but lets face it you dont really need to go on an official one you can literally step out your door and just go!

The thing with the UK is we are blessed with beautiful countryside, beautiful coastlines and beautiful little villages that no matter where you live are usually accessible.

In the North West you have the beautiful Lake District with Windermere, Keswick and Ambleside to name just a few and hundreds of different official walks

One such walk in the Lake District that is great for families is at the Whinlatter Visitor Centre, located between Keswick and Cockermouth. Not only does it have some amazing walks through the forest but it also has a huge outdoor play area. You do have to pay for Parking here. To find out more Click Here 

Down South and there's some beautiful walks around the coast, taking in sights such as the White cliffs of Dover and the English Riviera 

Wherever you are in the UK, There really is no excuse to not get out and have a family fun day walking
